About Train Dex

Train Dex is a train-spotting project by MboShu. This website provides a public European train reference and practical collecting guides. You can read both without installing an app or creating an account.

How we use sources

The reference shares the catalogue used by the Android app. Each entry links to its factual source and explains its collector rarity rating. Sources vary: some are operator or manufacturer pages, while others are specialist references or encyclopaedia entries. Check the linked source before relying on a detail. The catalogue is a selected collection, not a complete inventory of every European train.

Editorial approach

Guides explain observation and record-keeping methods. We do not present invented field visits, reviews or photographs as real experiences. Generic train artwork is illustrative and cannot identify a class. Rarity tiers are editorial collecting ratings; they are not official railway classifications or current fleet statistics.

The Android app

The app is in development and is not yet available on Google Play. It records local photos and sightings, supports class corrections and manual collecting, and offers optional online recognition. Read the app FAQs for the planned release and feature details. The public reference and guides are available now.
